Arusha National Park Walking Tour

Your journey starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha at around 7:30 am. After a scenic 45-minute drive, you’ll arrive at the entrance of Arusha National Park. Here, your guide will handle registration and introduce you to the armed ranger who will accompany you on the walking safari. Before heading in, you’ll receive a safety briefing and a short overview of the day’s plan.
The walking safari begins around 9:30 am. Unlike a traditional game drive, walking allows you to experience the park at a slower pace, connecting with nature in a more personal way. You’ll follow trails that lead through montane forests, grassy clearings, and open savannah at the base of Mount Meru. Along the way, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, and graceful antelopes. The park is also home to primates such as baboons and the striking black-and-white colobus monkey. Depending on the route, you may walk towards the rim of Ngurdoto Crater or the shores of the Momella Lakes, both known for their incredible landscapes and rich wildlife.
Around midday, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch at a beautiful spot inside the park. Here, you can relax while enjoying sweeping views of the surroundings. On clear days, Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible in the distance, while Mount Meru rises impressively nearby.
In the afternoon, your exploration continues. You may extend the walking safari deeper into the forest or switch to a short game drive to cover more ground. This offers an opportunity to spot additional wildlife and admire the Momella Lakes, which often shimmer in shades of green and blue and attract flamingos and many bird species.
By 4:30 pm, you’ll exit the park and begin the drive back to Arusha, with drop-off at your hotel by early evening.
